The sub-committee of the congress committee on foreign relations conducted a special hearing over the Balochistan issue. Five US lawmakers attended this unusual hearing of the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and it witnesses human rights abuses in Balochistan and stressed the Baloch right to self-determination. Ali Dayan Hassan, the Pakistani director for human rights, said that Pakistan’s security forces and its intelligence agencies were involved in the enforced disappearance of Baloch nationalists. Amnesty International’s Advocacy Director T. Kumar called on the US to “apply the Leahy Amendment without waivers to all Pakistani military units in Balochistan” to prevent the Pakistani military from using US-made weapons against the Baloch.
The US State Department disassociating itself from the congressional hearing regarding the Balochistan issue and opposed the idea of independent Balochistan, adding that the problems of the province should be resolved through peaceful and political way. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Sherry Rehman raised the issue of an exclusive hearing on Balochistan by the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs in her meetings with the members of congress and senior officials of the US administration and called it an “ill-advised” move that would be detrimental to the trust between Pakistan and the United States.
The ABOVE reported by media we all know but
· Did you notice in hearing on Balochistan a speaker who kept calling it Balukistan and does not even know the location of Balochistan stating that it is located between Iran and India. This leaves one question. Was this a intellectual forum which studied the area, environment and the human right situation OR a group of people financed to do propaganda for their financer?

The co-chair of this committee had previously been shunted aside and mocked by popular TV programs like The Daily Show for coining the idiotic idea of terror babies that are laid in the US by pregnant Muslims to be taken back for extremist training and used once they grow up. And when he was asked what his source was for such a ridiculous idea, it was revealed that he probably drew inspiration from an article on Chinese that had tendency to migrate near birth of babies to acquire US nationality. While these ppl are not to be taken seriously at all it is important for Pakistan to set the record straight and improve the plight of the ppl in every province including Baluchistan through political settlements, rule of law and good governance. Also important is to investigate and expose the tacit or open support networks from powerful nations greedy for resources in Baluchistan with undeniable evidence so that the may be stopped in their tracks.
. We should also hold a hearing on human rights abuses by US in Iraq and Afghanistan and condemn them in our parliament. Who gives them the right to interfere in internal affairs of other countries except that some of them believe that they are members of super power and no rule applies on them. Can such mind really be friends?
